Yogo Ultralight mats are made with natural rubber tapped from trees grown by our partner farmers in Sri Lanka who use certified responsible environmental and social practices. Similar to how maple syrup is produced, the rubber is tapped by lightly scoring each tree in a way that it can produce the liquid latex sustainably for its whole lifetime.

The rubber is processed into sheets, dried, and shipped to our factory.  There, it is mixed with some non-toxic minerals like the same sulfur that preserves apricots and calcium carbonate to preserve the rubber and keep it from biodegrading too quickly. All-natural rubber mats have a small amount of synthetic rubber in the formula as well which helps the mat remain pliable and hang together, and we have worked ours down to only about 10% after years of refinement.  This “dough” sits for a while, then is bonded with some organic cotton mesh and smooshed through a rolling machine like pasta to make flat sheets of rubber mats, then cut into shape and inspected.

Then our Ultralight mats have their recycled straps sewn on, are quality-inspected a third time, and are then carefully boxed in our recycled packaging and put on a cargo boat to come to the United States.
